
Luke Hale is a games producer, working on console, PC and mobile projects for games publishers. As a child he spent his time creating games on paper, moving to computer games once he was given a PC. After studying creative media at university, moving into the production side of designing computer games seemed a natural progression. At the time of this interview, Luke was working for Frontier developments, an independent video game developer and publisher.
In this interview he gives insight into the challenges in the gaming industry posed by the pandemic in 2020. Gaming has risen in popularity and people are spending more on games as a way to find enjoyment. The biggest challenge as a whole is keeping up with hardware changes, especially making the right decision about which way to go when new hardware is going to be launched. Frontier makes games for consoles and PC, which is a section of the games industry where the goalposts constantly move, and the quality is constantly improving which makes it an exciting part of the job. Luke talks about developments in Haptics, and the way this is influencing design for future games.
