Archives of IT are planning a series of online exhibitions to showcase some of the remarkable achievements of the sector over the past 70 years.
Our first exhibition will be 90s Revolution! which will tell the tale of the rapid growth and development of IT and Tech as the birth of the World Wide Web changed our lives forever. Internet in the home via dial-up modems, internet cafes and online shopping became part of everyday life in the UK during the 1990s.
The technology behind the telecommunications of the 1980s continued to improve, and mobile phones became smaller, lighter and more widely accessible.
By the end of the decade, advancements in Artificial Intelligence began to offer greater possibilities for use in medical research and practice.
But, the unprecedented boom of Internet start-ups and over-investment ultimately led to the dotcom bubble bursting, impacting businesses and individuals within the IT sector.
