The forum consisted of four sessions with sociologist, Professor Rich Ling, opening with a talk on the evolution of digital norms, which was followed by a roundtable discussion on IT professionalism featuring Sir Kenneth Olisa OBE, Paul Martynenko MBE and current BCS President, Alastair Revell, then a talk on journalism in the Digital Age by Bill Thompson and education with teacher, Ravi Chagger and coach, Kieran Gilmurray.
On 9 January 2024 AIT held the first of an annual series of forums on the histories of the internet and our networked digital society (read more button goes to highlights). On this page you can read all the talks by a multi-disciplinary set of academics, practitioners and leaders from civil society, business, industry, and government.
This feature, published in November 2023, charts some of the history and current developments of the internet and formed the backdrop to the AIT Forum on the Histories of the Internet. Looking through our archive we can map many of the significant developments from initial ideas to tests as well as its commercialisation, initial uses and benefits and risks to society.
