Tom Ilube CBE

Tom Ilube CBE is a serial entrepreneur, philanthropist and was named as the most influential British person of African-Caribbean origin by the Powerlist 2017.  After working for big consultancy companies, he was CIO of the innovative Internet bank Egg and founded a series of companies in personal identity and cybersecurity. In 2005 Tom launched a project to found the Hammersmith Academy, focusing on tech and creative skills, and he is the founder of the African Gifted Foundation, a UK education charity focused on science and technology in Africa.

Edwina Dunn OBE

Edwina Dunn OBE has spent her 40 years in the IT industry analysing great globs of data and turning it into useful business information to guide businesses. We call that today the analysis of big data. She started at the US CACI company which used census data to help customers such as banks and building societies. She left with her husband after nine years and they formed their own consultancy focusing on analysing customer data. Their big breakthrough was launching the Clubcard customer service for Tesco which catapulted Tesco to the front rank of UK grocery marketing. They sold the business to Tesco and formed another company. She is concerned about the ethics of using data and about the role of women in IT.

Andrew Stott

Andrew is an international thought leader in open data. Most recently, between 2004 and 2010, as Deputy Chief Information Officer and then Director of Digital Engagement at the Cabinet Office, he delivered the globally leading data.gov.uk, in which a large number of government datasets were made available online for the first time. He has led UK Digital Engagement programmes, and is now an expert adviser, speaker and consultant on open data and e-government, both in the UK and worldwide.

Sue Daley

Sue Daley is the big data and AI expert at techUK, the trade body for IT vendors.  She is a leading figure in the development of ethics for the digital world.  Her aim is to build a culture of trust and confidence between all the parties providing and handling data.  She began her career in government relations, representing clients to government and parliament.  She was a senior policy advisor at the Confederation of British Industry where she helped run the CBI’s EBusiness Council.  She worked for five years for Symantec, the IT security expert company.   In 2019 she was voted one of the UK’s top 100 experts on big data.  In 2016 she swam the English Channel in just under 24 hours.

Mike Lynch OBE

Mike Lynch founded Autonomy in Cambridge which swiftly became Europe’s largest software company selling its expertise in analysing large data sets.  Autonomy was later sold to Hewlett-Packard. In 2012 Lynch formed Invoke capital which believes that entrepreneurs should focus on the technology and not have to manage the sales force or the customer sales desk, which Invoke does for them.
