Susie Hargreaves OBE

After an early management career in the arts sector, in 2011 Susie became Chief Executive of the Internet Watch Foundation, which strives to achieve the global elimination of child sexual abuse imagery online

Ray Harsant

Having qualified as a Chartered Accountant in London, Ray spent some time working in South America. In the late 60s Ray joined Hoskyns initially as Company Secretary then in 1972 he was promoted to the position of Financial Director. Hoskyns became a market leader in computer services in the UK and a premier software consultancy in Europe. Ray spent 25 years there.

Bob Harvey

After an early career at Ferranti Bob joined the Welcome Foundation as a Systems & Programming Manager. Subsequently he worked for Unilever for 22 years & the Children’s Charity Barnardo’s for 15 years as IT Director. He was elected BCS President 2012 – 13

Dr Hermann Hauser

Hermann Hauser co-founded Acorn Computers and guided it through its growth and the success of the BBC Micro. He founded the Olivetti Research lab in Cambridge but left in 1988 to found the Active Book company and in 1990 he helped to spin out ARM from Acorn. He continues to look for new ventures and in 1997 co-founded the venture capital IT partnership Amadeus based in Cambridge.

Geoff Henderson

Geoff Henderson was an IBM’er for 27 years, between 1973 and 2000, joining as a systems engineer and retiring as Region Director Finance Sector, EMEA. Before joining IBM Geoff worked for the Steel Company of Wales from 1960 to ’73, where he headed the team that developed the world’s first-real time shop floor reporting system in the steel industry.

Dr Andrew Herbert OBE

Dr Andrew Herbert OBE retired in 2011, after a long and eventful career in IT. He has been a lecturer and researcher, an entrepreneur, a manager of SMEs, and finally Director and then Chairman of Microsoft Research EMEA.

Peter Hermon

Peter Hermon joined LEO Computers after he obtained first class honours from St. John’s Oxford, and seeing an advertisement for a mathematician from J. Lyons & Co. He was one of the most brilliant LEO recruits and quickly made his mark as a programmer and consultant. He moved to BOAC where he was responsible for the development of BOADICEA the airline reservation system which became a major UK success story and later became a Director of British Airways.

John Higgins CBE

John Higgins CBE is well known as the leader of influential industry trade associations and advisory bodies in the UK and Europe, which give him a unique perspective of IT in the last 45 years. Currently John is President of the BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT.

He first worked on computer applications at London Brick, writing payroll and other applications for a Univac mainframe and progressed to Silicon Valley DotCom CEO in the 90’s, before moving into industry advisory roles. In this interview he shares insights into wide ranging issues, including why Europe struggles to compete with the USA building Tech companies and the challenges of public sector IT projects.
