Frank Jones

Frank Jones during his long career as an executive in IT service companies was known as the outsourcing man. Outsourcing gave financial directors back control: control they had lost to IT managers. But there were drawbacks. He also grew businesses by acquisitions. Frank has experience with the different cultures of UK and continental European companies as well as Asian ones.

Professor Liz Bacon

Liz Bacon is a Professor of Software Engineering who helped change the school curriculum in computing and set-up more than 200 computers at school hubs across the country. In 2016 Liz became a Trustee and Director of Bletchley Park Trust, the home of British code breaking.

Dr Michael Taylor

Michael Taylor has had a varied career, much of it working on sensitive systems. He did pioneering work on speech recognition for use by pilots and helped the Metropolitan Police to “join up” its databases. He went on to become the IT champion of the UK’s joint intelligence committee within the cabinet office.

Alistair Fulton

Alistair has been involved with the Triad group of companies since 1978, moving from Senior Consultant, through Chief Executive to his current position as a non-exec director. He currently represents the UK ICT industry on the Singapore and Philippines British Business Councils.

Dr Hermann Hauser

Hermann Hauser co-founded Acorn Computers and guided it through its growth and the success of the BBC Micro. He founded the Olivetti Research lab in Cambridge but left in 1988 to found the Active Book company and in 1990 he helped to spin out ARM from Acorn. He continues to look for new ventures and in 1997 co-founded the venture capital IT partnership Amadeus based in Cambridge.

Charlie Ross

Charles Ross co-founded the Real Time Club of pioneers in real time computing over 50 years ago. He spent his life as a serial entrepreneur in the IT sector. He helped to develop one of the first online systems and pioneered computer typesetting. He helped get the European Union interested in funding Quantum computing developments. He was also involved in getting IT more widely appreciated by helping to found publishing alliances

John Handby

John Handby has directed the IT strategies and operations of IT users in the public and private sector. He has worked in the Royal Mail, National Power and Glaxo SmithKline, among others. He was Chief Executive of CIO Connect, an organisation set up to enable chief information officers to talk about the issues they were facing. He had a formative role in the introduction of clinical systems in the NHS.

John Pearce

John Pearce created the backbone of methods used by the successful Hoskyns Systems and became a key mover in the mid-1970s National Enterprise Board (NEB). He started in the IT sector by helping Joseph Lucas install its first computer and develop applications for it. He trained himself as a systems analyst before joining IBM in 1960 to help IBM introduce new concepts to existing customers

John Leighfield CBE

John Leighfield CBE was a pioneering IT user, applying the technology offered by vendors to the benefit of users, particularly in manufacturing. He started in IT with Ford in Dagenham in what would now be called systems analysis. He joined Plessey in 1965 and was on the board of Plessey as the head of IT. John moved to British Leyland in 1972, working in BL Systems, later renamed as ISTEL. It was privatised and John and others succeeded in a management buyout.

Roger Graham OBE

Roger Graham OBE helped to develop 3,000 IT jobs and £500 million of shareholder value in his IT career. He helped develop and sell one of the most important software packages for modern banking: MIDAS. He started work in the IT industry in IBM rising to be account manager for Ford UK. He left IBM after four-and-a-half years to join BIS, then a small software start up. MIDAS handled currency transactions when they were deregulated and also gold transactions. He left BIS in the early 1990s and has acted as a non-executive advisor to over 24 companies in 22 years.
